………考えてみたら、西住流という戦車道の中でも名門中の名門をルーツとし、元よりその才覚は高く評価されていた身だ。“国際的なデビュー”を見越して、そうした教育についても力を入れられていた可能性は十分に考えられる。確か姉の西住まほさんは、実際にドイツへの留学経験もあったはずよね。
ただそうした面を考慮に入れても尚、彼女の「流暢さ」に対する驚きは収まらない。何度か作戦を共にしたアメリカ艦や米海兵隊、或いはウチのウォースパイトなんかの英語と比べても違和感は殆どなかった。

そこまで言い切って、アリサさんは私と阿音を促しながら背を向ける。言葉も態度もぶっきらぼうだったけど、背けた顔には心の底から西住さんを心配する表情が浮かんでいる。
